Examinations & Housecalls

Examinations & Housecalls

Your pets are a part of the family, and at Coronado Veterinary Hospital we want you to remember how important it to have your animals' health regularly checked by a Coronado veterinarian. Vaccinations, pet nutrition, pet dental care, and other preventative veterinary care approaches can make a world of difference in terms of your pet's health, quality of life, and even longevity. After all, remember that animals tend to age an average of 4 to 10 years compared to a human's 1--that's a lot of annual growth and change to keep track of!

Wellness exams

An integral part of your pet's healthcare. During an exam, our veterinarians evaluate your pet's health with general examinations. At this time, we ensure vaccinations and parasite preventatives are up-to-date. We might also recommend treatment or lifestyle adjustments for additional health concerns such as allergies, diet, or dental.

Urgent Care & Housecalls

When your pet is seriously ill or injured, urgent care is critical. At least one Coronado vet is on duty 6 days a week who can handle most urgent cases. If one of our veterinarians is unable to see your in a timely manner, we may refer you to a local emergency hospital.

What Are The Benefits of An Annual Pet Wellness Exam?

  • Prevention. Like humans, dogs and cats are susceptible to various illnesses, diseases, and dysfunction that are largely preventable with proper care. Plus, it's easier to prevent a health problem than it is to treat a health problem. We like to think about an annual pet wellness exam as an investment in your animal companion's health--saving you money, energy, and stress.

  • Early Intervention. Should your pet develop a health problem, early detection and treatment is one of the best ways to maximize your pet's recovery and minimize the impact of the health condition. Delayed treatment or lack of treatment often causes a small problem to get much worse, which can have significant impact on the health and quality of life of your animal.

  • Follow Through. Our staff at Coronado Veterinary Hospital loves getting to know your dogs and cats over the years. A regular annual pet exam helps us develop a better understanding of your four-legged family member's individual and specialized needs. Since it's not always easy to tell if your pet is sick--and because your animal can't tell you when something feels wrong--regular consultation with a veterinarian helps to ensure that your pet is aging and developing well.

What To Expect At An Exam

Our veterinary staff provides preventative measures, early diagnosis and treatment, and overall assessment of every major area of your animal's health during every annual pet exam. To do this, you can expect your pet's wellness exam to include a thorough analysis of:

  • Weight, bones, and joints

  • Skin, coat, nails

  • Heart and lungs

  • Eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and teeth

Based on your pet's examination, we may make recommendations including spay and neuter, vaccinations, preventative medications, and pet dental care. Above all, we strive to provide these services in a calm environment so your pet remains as comfortable as possible.
